Rosie, my precious
My cat, Potsey, has faded to a skeleton in the past few months and has pale gums and 1/2 the red blood cells. He might be licking at ashes around the fireplace for minerals. He still eats and drinks, so I don't know how long he'll last. Marrow testing and transfusions sound expensive. He's at least 14 and down to 6.5 pounds.

I quite agree, sounds like feline leukemia to me, this is often accompanied by eye infections. For the anemia you could try Rossovet Drops given orally to help strengthen his muscular system. Try to avoid any stress in the cat's lifestyle, changes in routine, companions, room temperature etc. But if the cat has got to be 14 this is very good innings for a cat with leukemia, they usually die young so as you have been advised get the cat tested so you can be certain of what the underlying cause of the aenemia is. Good Luck!
