    Treating Cats for Human Scabies?

    I continue to get reinfected with human scabies after following proper protocol. My doctor suggests that my cats may be a carrier and a source of reinfection. Is this possible, and if so, what and how should I treat my cats?

    Scabies is not all that common is cats, but it is certainly possible that they (or your dogs if you have any) are the source of your recurrent infections.

    There are also some other microscopic parasites that can infect both cats and people causing symptoms that look an awful lot like scabies, but there is some good news. Whichever parasite is to blame there is a good chance that a medication called Revolution will get rid of the problem.

    This is a prescription medication, but if you talk to your veterinarian he or she will probably be willing to dispense it or write a prescription for your pets. You should treat all the animals in your home by applying one dose to the skin every two weeks for a total of three treatments.
